Indie’s Questions with Cat Connor

Name: Cat Connor. I live in the Wellington Region of New Zealand.
Occupation: Crime thriller author – I’m published by Rebel E Publishers in South Africa.
Website: http://catconnor.blogspot.com/
Who is your favourite author? My favorite author changes from year to year (just like my favorite music). As a child I adored Willard Price and as a teen Alexander Dumas and Ian Fleming. In the last year, I have enjoyed books by Jeffrey Deaver, E.J.Knapp, and Sara.J.Henry among others.
What is your favourite book? The Three Musketeers. I know short answer, but it’s a book I have always loved. (Along with Robin Hood and Ivanhoe – yep, there’s a theme, and it tends to carry on in my own writing but in a current day setting.)
What is the first e-book you read? Killerbyte by Cat Connor… yep, that was the first e-book I’d ever read. Really had to be my own didn’t it? My first two books were released only as e-books, and then my publisher announced they were able to release our books as paperbacks, yet still maintain Rebel E’s environmentally friendly philosophy. In 2010 my books were released as paperback as well as e-books and when exacerbyte came out in Feb this year, it was both e and print.
Since purchasing a Kindle a few weeks ago (while traveling), I have read about 15 e-books. Including the _Byte series, which I write – because I wanted to experience the series on Kindle! I must say Kindle is just as easy as reading a paperback. As someone who uses many research books – so much easier taking e-books than lugging large volumes on planes!!
What is your favourite book cover? This is actually a really hard question… have you seen my covers?? I have to choose one? Can’t be done!
Jacques does such an amazing job portraying my thoughts and the content of the books in each cover! Because exacerbyte is the newest release, I shall say that is my favorite cover!
If you could be a character from any book, who would you be and why?
Another tricky question – I wouldn’t go with the character someone recently created in a book ‘based’ on me, way too unrealistic.
Of all the books I’ve read and characters I’ve loved, I’d still (at times) like to be my main character, Special Agent Ellie Conway. She’s funny, smart, tough- but not overly so, friendly, confident (at least outwardly) and she loves her job. (Which is lucky really, because it’s not an easy vocation!)
Thank you for having me over!
